Meet Jessica

Workforce Challenge

Jessica sought a more fulfilling career, but she required specific vocational education to fulfill her dream of becoming a registered nurse. Lauren had some savings, and she was employed at Burger King, but she knew that she would require additional financial assistance to help pay for her continued education. The school's financial aid office referred Jessica to the Workforce Investment Board (WIB).

Workforce Solution

Jessica continued working for Burger King through her first and second semester. Unfortunately, during her third semester, Burger King was unable to work around her school schedule. She contacted the WIB, and they provided her with funding for her third and fourth semesters.

Outcomes & Benefits

Jessica successfully graduated from the nursing program and became employed at Geo Group – Desert View Correctional. She says, “The financial help I received made it possible for me to complete the RN program. Without the travel reimbursement and other items that the Workforce Investment Board paid for, it would have been very difficult to complete the program.”
