Meet Joshua

Workforce Challenge

After three years of employment, Josh was laid off from a local aircraft company. He was worried that he would not be able to secure employment in the local area.

Workforce Solution

On the day of his lay off, Josh applied at a local aircraft company. He interviewed the next day, was offered the job and accepted it. His new employer was working with the Wichita Workforce Center. With the assistance of the Workforce Alliance and the Trade Adjustment Assistance program, the Center enrolled Josh in an on-the-job training program. The program reimbursed the new employer 90% of Josh's wages for the duration of training.

Outcomes & Benefits

Josh really enjoys his new job. It's only 5 minutes from home, which allows him to have lunch with his children on a regular basis and have more time at home. The best part is that his new employer was able to match his previous salary.
