Meet Enrique

Workforce Challenge

By 16 years old, Enrique had dropped out of high school. With his mother, he visited the Workforce Center to learn more about obtaining a GED. By law, he was not able to enroll into a GED program until he turned 17. He needed an approved GED waiver to move forward.

Workforce Solution

Center staff worked with Enrique to submit and mail the proper paperwork for the GED waiver. A few weeks later, he received notification that he was denied the waiver because he was not yet 17. Center staff instructed Enrique to visit again once he turned 17. Although he never visited, staff followed-up with him, and they were able to enroll him in the youth program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Currently, Enrique is taking the GED pre-tests and soon, he will be able to achieve a GED.
