Mile High Flea Market

Workforce Challenge

During busy spring and summer seasons, Mile High Flea Market needed to hire 60+ employees for a variety of positions. They have consistently partnered with the Adams County Workforce & Business Center, using Connecting Colorado to post positions and regularly attending the annual GSJH Youth Fair. However, those methods were not completely meeting their need for employees.

Workforce Solution

Center staff met with Mile High Flea Market to strategize employee recruitment. One solution was to have them attend the quarterly Job Opportunity Fair sponsored by the Center. The purpose of this fair is to help Employment First, TANF and Head Start program participants find gainful employment, eliminating the need for financial/food assistance. This type of job seeker typically needs an entry level position and faces other barriers to employment. This was a perfect fit for Mile High Flea Market!

Outcomes & Benefits

The employer attended the event, and they were able to hire 16 people on the spot! In addition, they received information about the internship and work experience program offered through WIA Youth. They will soon start the process to become an approved work site for that program.

Mile High Flea Market was beyond happy with their results! They will now be joining the Adams County Workforce & Business Center’s monthly hiring events to continue to fill their positions.
