Back to Work

Workforce Challenge

"Mrs. Jones"* was 58 years old and had had total knee replacement on both knees. Following recuperation, she wanted to get back to work but was now considered disabled based on her level of recovery from surgery.

Workforce Solution

She was enrolled in the WIA Adult program and the Choose to Work Program, which meets employer staffing needs by connecting them with work-ready citizens with disabilities. A job training site was developed for her at a chiropractors office. The Utah Department of Workforce Services supported a 6 month On-the-Job training, where she obtained the hands-on experience necessary to effectively run the office.

Outcomes & Benefits

After 6 months of training (OJT), this customer was put on the doctor's payroll full time. In addition, the doctor expressed his thanks for the program and said what a benefit it was to both him and the customer.
