Meet Eileen

Workforce Challenge

Eileen had been unemployed for awhile. She had last worked as a grocery clerk and prior to that, she worked for an auto repair shop. She wanted her next position to be better than her previous positions with the opportunity for advancement. She was interested in the medical field, but she was not sure how to make a successful transition.

Workforce Solution

Some of Eileen’s friends, who had utilized Workforce Investment Board services, told her about available programs. When she visited the center, she learned about the certified nursing assistant program and decided to apply. She was assigned a mentor who provided guidance and support, and she also received gas cards to help with transportation to and from classes.

Outcomes & Benefits

Eileen successfully completed the program and found full-time employment with Heritage Garden. Eileen said that the Workforce Investment Board services “exceeded her expectations” and she is appreciative of all the support.
