Meet Kimberly

Workforce Challenge

Kimberly was in the process of getting divorced. She had been a stay at home mom for some time and needed to start earning her own income. Lacking work history and vocational skills, she was having a hard time finding employment while also transitioning her children to daycare.

Workforce Solution

Kimberly was enrolled in TANF and WIA and between the two programs she did career building assessments, a resume workshop, the TABE, behavioral assessments and took the Career Readiness Certification. She was then enrolled in Nurses Aid Training at AIMS Community College for which she received gas vouchers and assistance with child care.

Outcomes & Benefits

Kimberly graduated at the top of her class with job offers lined up before her training ended. She obtained her CNA license and basic life support certification. She is no longer receiving TANF, is working full-time and enjoying her new responsibilities.
