Meet Kalen

Workforce Challenge

Kalen was unemployed, but she needed a job to maintain her housing arrangement.

Workforce Solution

She was co-enrolled in the Adult, National Emergency Grant (NEG) and AmeriCorps programs. Through the NEG program, she obtained temporary employment in debris removal.

Outcomes & Benefits

After being with the NEG crew for only two weeks, Kalen obtained an on-the-job training opportunity, which led to a permanent job as a Community Service Administrator for the City of Evans. Through the AmeriCorps Service, Kalen was enrolled into the Weld County Youth Conservation Corps (WCYCC). Through this program, she was assigned to the chainsaw crew. She not only gained an S-212 Chainsaw Certification, but she also put together impactful lessons for all program crews. Recently, Kalen was recognized at the State Capitol as a Corps Member of the Year!
