Meet Michael

Workforce Challenge

Michael had been looking for general labor employment but had been unsuccessful. He felt he was always competing against more qualified candidates and was getting discouraged.

Workforce Solution

Michael's mother suggested he try the WIB funded @LIKE program to see if they could help him.

He was accepted into the program and within weeks Michael became more confident. He began speaking in group sessions and learning how to conduct himself in an interview. @LIKE also provided support to allow Michael to enroll in a manufacturing training course at Chaffey College.

Outcomes & Benefits

He is now applying for manufacturing jobs and confident in a better future.

“The program has given me more confidence in looking for a job. I know now what to say in an interview and what to expect when I am looking for work. The manufacturing training has helped me to be more aware of the types of jobs available and how education is important for me to have more opportunity. Without the program I wouldn’t have 14 certifications. I thank the program for providing me with this opportunity.”
