Meet Christian

Workforce Challenge

Christian was living on the streets and addicted to heroin when a member of San Bernardino's YouthHope youth program offered him a lifeline.

Workforce Solution

Christian enrolled in YouthHope and was offered resources to support a path to sobriety. After being drug free for several months, Christian enrolled in the @LIKE program at Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa Regional Occupational Program (CRY-ROP) and committed himself to turning his life around.

Christian faithfully attended Work Readiness Workshops and never missed a single session of his individualized Life Coaching and Case Management meetings.

Though Christian had no work experience, the @LIKE program placed him in an internship at Merchandise Connection, a clothing warehouse where he excelled.

Outcomes & Benefits

Once the internship was complete, MerchCon hired him to be part of their team. He now works up to 38 hours per week and has moved into his own apartment.

Christian is now considering college to become a professional drug and alcohol counselor.
