Meet Amber

Workforce Challenge

Amber was laid off from a local aircraft company in 2010 due to her job being outsourced to another country. She was seeking a career that would provide both stability and a wage with which she could support her family.

Workforce Solution

She entered into the TAA program in 2011. After a lot of research Amber decided the medical field would be a great fit for her. The labor market information showed a positive growth for years to come and the starting wages were comparable to what she was making previously. The TAA program covered 100% of her costs for training, supplies, books and mileage to and from school.

Outcomes & Benefits

Amber was very dedicated to her training program. She traveled more than 50 miles one way to school each day. She maintained all A's & B's throughout the training program and successfully completed with an Associates Degree and her RN license. She has secured full time employment as an RN, with a local hospital making 90% of her previous wage!
