Meet Claudette

Workforce Challenge

Claudette was laid off from her Call Center position when her job was moved overseas. She was receiving income through Unemployment Insurance and needed to further her education in order to secure more stable employment.

Workforce Solution

She was eligible for Trade Readjustment Assistance (TRA) when her unemployment income stopped. She was co-enrolled in the WIA Dislocated Worker Program and completed the National Emergency Grant Disaster application.

Outcomes & Benefits

With financial assistance from the TAA program, Claudette attended Aims Community College to earn her Associates Degree. With acceptance to the National Emergency Grant program, she was hired by the City of Evans for a full time Humanitarian position. She excelled in her work but continued her job search for long term employment which she eventually found with the Department of Human Services.
