Meet William

Workforce Challenge

William came to the Jefferson County American Job Center (AJC) as a job seeker. William was newly unemployed after 23 years and did not know how to create a resume, apply to jobs online, or even how to use a computer.

Workforce Solution

With staff assistance William registered for several computer literacy and resume writing workshops. Through this process, staff learned that William had a learning disability and was not staying for the workshops as he did not understand what was being taught or even how to check-in. Upon realizing his greater barriers, staff sat down with William and assisted him one-on-one. Through this assistance, William was able to update his Connecting Colorado profile, created a resume, learned how to apply for jobs online and received general computer skills practice.

Outcomes & Benefits

From this one-on-one assistance, William now has a solid resume and basic computer skills. Once he was ready, staff directed William to a Construction Industry Hiring Event hosted by the AJC. At the event, William secured a full-time construction position near his home; everything William wanted. Congratulations William, keep up the good work!
