Meet Ashley

Workforce Challenge

Ashley had a Bachelor's Degree but was working in a job that did not use her education or allow her to work to her potential. She decided to leave her job as an assistant manager for leasing apartments to find a position that would build on her college degree. Ashley came to Lane WorkSource for assistance with her job search.

Workforce Solution

An employer interviewed Ashley and felt she could be a good fit for an open position, but she lacked direct experience. WorkSource Lane offered an On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunity to the employer to help Ashley gain the knowledge and skills she needed. She would need to learn GIS mapping and the timber industry. The employer saw her potential, since Ashley already had excellent computer skills and database management skills needed for the job. At the One-stop, Ashley earned her Platinum National Career Readiness Certificate.

Outcomes & Benefits

Ashley said "The OJT allowed me to be trained as an Assistant Timberland Department Assistant, starting at $18.50 per hour, full-time! This job builds on my college education and has allowed me to target a specific industry and type of occupation, where I can earn a good wage and grow with this company." Congratulations, Ashley!
