Meet Arthur

Workforce Challenge

Arthur had been unemployed for a long time and was living in temporary housing through a community partner. The housing arrangement was about to expire, and he could not find employment due to numerous barriers including a criminal history. He was referred to Employment Services of Weld County for assistance.

Workforce Solution

The Disabled Veterans Outreach Program representative referred Arthur to the National Emergency Grant (NEG) Program, Food Assistance and Medicaid. He also issued Arthur a gift card and offered him a bike. Once Arthur qualified for Food Assistance he began working with a employment case manager, who referred him to competency workshops and issued him bus tokens. He was hired through the NEG program and was issued a gas voucher to help with transportation. He was also assigned a Workforce Investment Act case manager, who helped with job referrals and referred him to the resume workshop.

Outcomes & Benefits

Through his NEG-funded employment, Arthur became a certified and apprentice chain saw operator. He also became CPR & AED certified. This ultimately led to his earning full time employment with All American Pet Protein.
