Meet Yanette

Workforce Challenge

Yanette applied with the Larimer County Workforce Center after a presentation at the local High School's teen parent class. As a mother of two, Yanet was interested in the Workforce Center's YouthLINK Fast Track program for High School Seniors to obtain a job so that she could start supporting her kids and get schooling/training to lead to a career.

Workforce Solution

Yanette improved her job readiness skills by taking the Workforce Center Youth Workshops and demonstrated her soft skills through her interaction with the other youth in the classes. Yanette interviewed for two front desk internships and was offered a position at both! Yanette chose the internship that best fit her future goals. She accepted the position as a Front Desk Intern at the Larimer County Workforce Center. Yanette did such an exceptional job working with customers and co-workers that her supervisor requested her hours be increased from 20 hours per week to 40 hours per week and those skills got her a first-round interview for an open front desk position.

Outcomes & Benefits

Yanette proved to have a great attitude when she readily accepted feedback from her supervisor on how to improve her interviewing skills. She took the suggestions, practiced at home, and came back the next day to ace her second interview. Yanette was hired as a Department Specialist I at the Larimer County Workforce Center which includes benefits, vacation/sick time and retirement. We are lucky to have her on our staff.
