Meet Nicole

Workforce Challenge

Nicole Hill, a teacher, requested support in helping her students become employed.

Workforce Solution

Working with Youth Case Manager Karina Amaya, Nicole arranged for Karina to attend her different classes to provide information on employment services offered by Weld County and explain the services that are available such as the upcoming Annual Teen Job Fair. Karina also assisted the students with resume preparation, interviewing skills, mock interviews and job searching.

Because she was well informed about the services offered by her local workforce center, Nicole brought a group of 30 students to the Annual Teen Job Fair in March 2014. She worked with the students to prepare them for speaking with potential employers and having interviews. Her students were to dress in professional attire as a requirement for getting on the bus.

Outcomes & Benefits

All of the employers were impressed with how well the students dressed and acted and as a result, two students were hired by companies during the job fair.
