Meet Ron

Workforce Challenge

Ron came to the U.S. from Tel Aviv, Israel in 2010. Despite having a Bachelors degree in Mechanical and Systems Engineering from Tel Aviv Academic College of Engineering, he could not meet his goal of becoming a project manager. Instead, he worked for construction companies in different setting and roles. In summer 2013, Ron decided to take action in fulfilling his goal, and came to Easy Bay Works for assistance.

Workforce Solution

Through East Bay Works, Ron learned about the five-month Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Career Academy at Diablo Valley College. The program offers opportunity for training and possibilities for job placement in the construction field after graduation. "The program was very intense and demanding, but it prepared us for the trade’s tests and interviewing process," said Ron. "East Bay Works didn’t pay for the training, but they did help me through supportive services."

Outcomes & Benefits

In July 2014, Ron started a five-year apprenticeship with Local 393. "I’m currently working on the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital expansion in Stanford and I’m on a career path to achieve my dream!" said Ron.
