Meet David

Workforce Challenge

David was an in-school youth who was unsure about a career path. He thought he might like to become a police officer. David enrolled in the WIA Youth program at the Lane Workforce Partnership.

Workforce Solution

David's counselor approached him about participating in an internship in his chosen career field. While unable to get an internship with the police department, David's counselor helped him obtain an internship with Eugene Fire and Emergency Medical Services. While there, David learned how to operate a forklift and became forklift certified. He also repaired fire hydrants, filled air tanks and maintained fire hoses.

Outcomes & Benefits

David graduated from high school and is getting ready to enroll in Lane Community College, where he will obtain a Paramedic Degree so that he can become a firefighter.
