Meet Margaretta

Workforce Challenge

Margaretta was a laid off aircraft worker who had been unemployed for over 7 months and was getting anxious about not being able to obtain employment. Margaretta only had a high school diploma and believed she needed to obtain a degree in order to be more marketable. She came to the workforce center for assistance.

Workforce Solution

Through the career center, Margaretta researched training options available to her using Trade Adjustment Act funds, and she decided to enroll in training in the health care field. Margaretta enrolled in online training at Hutchinson Community College with the help of the TAA program. When she began struggling with the on-line courses, she obtained approval to attend in-classroom training.

Outcomes & Benefits

Margaretta continued working with her TAA Case Manager who helped her modify her training plan to obtain a technical certificate. Margaretta did very well with her in-classroom courses and was able to obtain her Medical Coding Certificate at the end of her training plan.
