Meet Noemi

Workforce Challenge

Noemi came to the Southeast LA / Crenshaw WorkSource center in September 2013. She needed help with searching for a job and editing her resume since her computer literacy skills were not strong. She did not have appropriate business attire for an interview and lacked interviewing skills.

Workforce Solution

At the WorkSource Center, Noemi received help revising her resume and preparing for job interviews. Her counselor sent a referral request to Dress for Success with Noemi's size included so that she could be considered to receive a free business suit to help her look her best at her interview.

The WorkSource Center received a request VSEDC/Business Source to help find a candidate for a job at West Coast Custom Blinds. Noemi's counselor spoke with the company owners about the position requirements and the company's needs. Noemi was a match for the open position and was asked to interview for it. Noemi was interested in the position and felt that she was qualified to do the job, so the interview was scheduled.

Outcomes & Benefits

The owner of West Coast Custom Blinds interviewed Noemi in early April 2014. Noemi did well in her interview and was hired as a secretary in April 2014. She is now back to work full time.
