Meet Anne

Workforce Challenge

Annie was laid off from her job at Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in September 2010 after 8 1/2 years of employment. She searched for a new job and worked as a home health care provider in the interim. She struggled to find employment in medical field due to her outdated skills.

Workforce Solution

Annie learned about the Getting LA Back To Work program, which is funded by the NEG/Multi-Sector Workforce Partnership grant. She enrolled with the Los Angeles Urban League's West Adams/Baldwin Hills WorkSource Center. Through the program, she can receive funds for training and certification as a nursing assistant. When her sister was also laid off, Annie immediately told her about the LA Back to Work program, and her sister was qualified as well.

Outcomes & Benefits

Annie is in the process of registering for a training program to upgrade her skills so that she will be more marketable in the healthcare industry. Her sister is also registering for training.
