Meet Bruce

Workforce Challenge

Bruce worked in aviation for over 30 years but was recently laid off from his job with a large employer. Bruce was faced with several challenges in trying to find new employment. First, he is an older worker with only a high school diploma. Second, there are very few large aviation companies in the local area that pay a desirable wage.

Workforce Solution

Bruce came to the Workforce Center for assistance. There, he was enrolled in the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program. When Bruce received an opportunity to interview for a job in another state, TAA was able to help with the cost to get Bruce to and from the interview.

Outcomes & Benefits

Bruce was offered the position outside the state. Through the TAA Program, Bruce was provided with relocation assistance to help offset the cost to relocate him and his family to his new job location. Because Bruce is not making exactly what he was making prior to being laid off, TAA is also assisting Bruce with RTAA, a wage subsidy to help ease the wage gap.
