Meet James

Workforce Challenge

James was a laid off aircraft worker who qualified for training with Trade Adjustment Act funding. He decided he wanted to change his career path due to the decline of the aircraft industry in our local area. James wanted to change his career path to find job security and support his family.

Workforce Solution

While serving our country in the military James had trained to become an Alternative Medic. He enjoyed that type of work and therefore decided to obtain licensing as a Registered Nurse.He enrolled and took classes at Butler Community College.

Outcomes & Benefits

While in school James continued job searching. He obtained employment at a local hospital as a Nursing Assistant. This provided him with the much needed experience in his field. Upon completion of the state boards and earning his Registered Nurse License, James was promoted to an RN position making more per hour than he did while working in the aircraft industry. James plans to continue his education to earn the Bacheleor of Nursing Degree with the assistance of his employer.
