Meet Tim

Workforce Challenge

Tim became one of the 'long-term unemployed' after being laid off from a local manufacturing company along with many other employees last year. He came to Employment Services of Weld County seeking financial assistance through temporary, subsidized employment.

Workforce Solution

Tim was placed on a Weld County Flood Recovery Community Corps National Emergency Grant (NEG) Debris Removal Crew. Initially, he found it difficult to adjust to the physical demands of debris removal after being out of work for nearly a year. Tim was unsure about proceeding with the intense manual labor. Despite this significant personal challenge, he persevered and continued to work on the crew. He earned the respect of his crew mates as a hard-working and determined individual.

Outcomes & Benefits

As a National Emergency Grant crew member, Tim received a paycheck for his hard work as well as assistance in the form of work clothes, personal protective equipment, gas vouchers, CPR/AED training, and chainsaw training. This program met his short-term needs and allowed him to continue searching for permanent employment. Before long, Tim had secured a position with the Weld County Public Works department as a truck driver and exited the National Emergency Grant program early to assume his new role.
