Meet Timothy

Workforce Challenge

Timothy had been laid off from the aircraft manufacturing industry and was having a hard time finding employment. He had been unemployed for over 6 months. Timothy was mainly applying to engineering jobs that required a Bachelor’s degree, and he was getting turned down due to not meeting the minimum qualifications. Timothy needed help obtaining the training these jobs required.

Workforce Solution

Timothy came into the Workforce Center and was found to be eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) services. With the assistance of the TAA program Timothy updated his resume and received job search assistance. His case manager sent Timothy a list of positions that offered on-the-job training and advised him to apply.

Outcomes & Benefits

Timothy pursued these opportunities and eventually was called for an interview. After the interview, he received a job offer, but it was not for an on the job training position. Timothy was fully qualified for one of the company's full time openings, and they offered him more than what he earned with his previous employer. Receiving the resume assistance and the encouragement he needed put Timothy back on the path to employment.
