Meet Dan

Workforce Challenge

Dan had been laid off from the aircraft industry after 30 years’ experience. After over two years of searching he was still having a hard time finding steady employment. He occasionally worked as a temporary day laborer, but due to his age the hard manual labor was not a viable long-term option. Dan came to the Wichita Workforce Center for assistance.

Workforce Solution

At the Center, Dan qualified for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) funding. He received assistance with writing his resume and uploading it to KansasWorks.com, where he searched for new jobs that met his skills and abilities.

Outcomes & Benefits

Dan found stable, full-time employment in a warehouse as a forklift operator. Although he was making less than he used to, TAA assisted Dan with a temporary wage subsidy designed to bridge the salary gap between old and new employment wages. Dan got back on his feet and his confidence increased. He is happy to be back at work.
