Meet Bradford

Workforce Challenge

Bradford was laid off from his job as an aircraft worker after 5 years. He had a bachelor's degree in mathematics from 2000, but could not find a new job in his field due to the influx of laid off aircraft workers in South Central Kansas at that time.

Workforce Solution

Bradford received assistance through the Kansas Department of Commerce and accessed Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) funding to complete a second bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Wichita State University.

Outcomes & Benefits

After Bradford completed training and earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he obtained employment as a mechanical engineer, earning more money than he was making prior to being laid off from his aircraft position.
