Meet Victor

Workforce Challenge

Victor worked for the U.S Census Bureau and was laid off in July 2010 when data collection ended. Since that time, the only work he had been able to secure was part time holiday work as a Sales Clerk during the 2011 holiday season. At 34 years old, he was feeling anxious about his future.

Workforce Solution

Victor met with a senior case manager at MCS-Hollywood Worksource, where he received information on training available through the MultiSector Workforce Partnership (NEG) Grant. He was interested in a career in criminal justice or public safety, and enrolled in security guard training at Guard Training Center. He started training in August 2013. "I was eager and determined to be a success," shared Victor.

Outcomes & Benefits

Victor completed his training and is currently interviewing. "I am grateful to the staff at Hollywood WorkSource and to the staff of Guard Training Center for helping me out in different ways, whether it is through instruction, experience, encouragement, or all three," said Victor. "I already had interviews with Event Guard Systems, C&C Concierge, Securitas, Universal Protection Services and Allied Barton." With his new training credentials, Victor will be back at work soon.
