Workforce Challenge

Carolyn lost of her job after six years when the facility where she worked closed. She was close to retirement and hadn't expected to have to find another job, but it was beyond her control. Carolyn wanted to continue to work with people but she needed a job that was less physically demanding, and she needed to get back to work quickly.

Workforce Solution

Carolyn decided to become certified as a Medical Assistant. The program was nine months long, and the job opportunities would allow her to use her customer service skills and work with people. WIA funding helped Carolyn pay for the training. She progressed well with the program and maintained very good grades.

Outcomes & Benefits

Carolyn is now back at work in the medical field. She is working for a medical facility taking care of patients and using all the skills she acquired during school. Carolyn is very thankful for the WIA program and the chance to return to school and obtain a credential she could use right away.
