Meet Andy

Workforce Challenge

Andy worked for the U.S Census Bureau as an Assistant Quality Assurance Manager for approximately eighteen months and was laid off in September, 2010. He had ten years of experience in management, but he was having difficulty obtaining employment because he felt he was overqualified for many jobs that were available. Andy submitted several applications to employers, but was receiving lukewarm responses. He received a mailer regarding the Multi-Sector Workforce Partnership / NEG program and was enrolled in November 2011.

Workforce Solution

Andy received one-on-one case management and job search assistance. He participated in several job clubs and employer expectation workshops at Hub Cities Consortium; he was given referrals and job leads. One job in particular, AutoChlor, seemed to be a perfect match for his skills. Andy submitted his resume, completed an application, and a week later he was contacted for a first phase interview.

Outcomes & Benefits

After numerous interviews, panel interviews, ride a-longs and presentations Andy was selected and offered employment as a Supervisor. He started his job in March 2012.
