Meet Justin

Workforce Challenge

Justin, a 23 year old high school graduate had completed one year of Columbia Basin College’s Auto Tech program, currently an in-decline occupation in our area. He came to us homeless, unemployed, and as a single father of 2 children. Justin was unable to find employment due to lack of resources and transportation.

Workforce Solution

Justin was enrolled into WIA and he received assistance creating his very first resume, learned how to use the self sufficiency calculator and began understanding what is needed to become self sufficient. In July 2009 he started his work experience at Falcon Development, where he received training on the operation of different machinery. Justin’s site supervisor indicated many times that Justin was always eager to learn more and he was always open to any feedback.

Outcomes & Benefits

Justin’s work experience paid off when he was offered full time employment. He is now earning $10.00/hour plus benefits. He and his Employment Specialist were able to secure stable housing and transportation. Justin recently called Career Path Services to thank us for helping him out every time he needed assistance; he indicated that because of this program he was able to use skills he didn’t know he had. He also indicated that he is now able to provide for his children.
