Meet Rebecca

Workforce Challenge

Rebecca worked as a Senior Collections Specialist at a large national financial services provider for over 10 years. She was a mature worker and was having difficulty becoming reemployed because she had no experience with basic office software (Microsoft Office). In addition, she had never completed high school.

Workforce Solution

Rebecca received intensive services and an assessment to determine the best course of action. She qualified for services under the NEG grant. With the assistance of a career counselor from Los Angeles Urban League Pomona WSC, she identified a Computerized Office Administration training course offered at Westech College that would help her gain the software skills she needed. While in the course, Rebecca also prepared to take the GED test.

Outcomes & Benefits

Rebecca successfully completed a 27-week training program that covered the MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint, Peachtree, and Office Administration. She also passed the GED test. With her training complete, Rebecca secured a position as an Account Manager that will allow her to use her newly acquired skills.
