Meet Scott

Workforce Challenge

As a jobseeker, Scott was often not pursuing employment opportunities because his skills and experience were not a perfect match. For example, an employer was looking for someone with work experience in a Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) program called Solid Works. Scott had training in the specific design program, but did not have work experience.

Workforce Solution

Scott's career advisor recommended that Scott apply for the job through the workforce center's On-the-Job Training Program. WorkSource Lane referred Scott to the employer and worked with the employer to set up an On the Job training contract. Scott was able to work with a mentor employee to gain the training and experience required for the position.

Outcomes & Benefits

The company hired Scott as a designer using the Solid Works program to produce blueprints of electric cars for their Production Department. Scott is now very busy helping design parts for an electric vehicle the company will soon begin producing.

Scott said "I think the OJT program is great! It helps you look at other opportunities that you might not see yourself. That's exactly what I did."
