Meet Amber

Workforce Challenge

When Amber learned about the County of San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board’s youth employment program from a friend, she was working a part-time job and was constantly stressed about money and time. She dreamed of working in the medical field but could not afford the necessary schooling.

Workforce Solution

Soon after, with assistance from the County of San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board, Amber enrolled in the Career Institute’s Certified Nursing Assistant program. She graduated from the program and immediately obtained a job as a resident aide at Sterling Commons.

Outcomes & Benefits

Amber is now employed part time at both Starbucks and Sterling Commons, and is working toward a full-time position at Sterling Commons.

“Without the County of San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board and the Career Institute, I would have never known about the options that are out there,” Amber says.

Amber is very thankful for the opportunity and assistance given to her by the WIB. “It has been life changing for me,” she asserts.
