Meet Ninette

Workforce Challenge

Ninette worked for the U.S. Census Bureau as a Field Manager of 17 employees during the 2010 Census. When the job ended she had a difficult time obtaining employment. She has an Associates of Arts Degree from Los Angeles City College (LACC), and 20 years of Administrative Assistant experience. She is bilingual and still was unable to obtain full time comparable employment. The only thing she was able to obtain were stop gap temporary positions.

Workforce Solution

Ninette came to Metro Career Centers/Hollywood Worksource for assistance. Together, she and her case manager developed an Individual Employment Plan and reviewed her short and long term goals. Ninette wanted to pursue employment in the health care field. She started a class at LACC for Home Health Aide. She completed that training and took a two day Environmental Service Class. MCS/Hollywood WorkSource then referred her to Kaiser Permanente for a 160-hour externship.

Outcomes & Benefits

After completing her externship, Ninette volunteered in the Optometry department at Kaiser and searched for fulltime work. In June 2012, she started a fulltime position with Kaiser as a Environmental Service Provider. She continues to work at Kaiser and has full benefits.
