Workforce Challenge

Alana first came to the Sutter County One Stop because she was seeking assistance with the costs of her training courses to become a Medical Assistant. As a single mother, Alana knew the importance of establishing a career in order to provide for herself and her family.

Workforce Solution

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Program was able to provide Alana assistance with books, uniforms and supplies needed to take the Medical Assisting courses.

Outcomes & Benefits

Alana successfully completed her training and received a certificate of completion. Alana was eager to find employment in the career of her dreams, but was having a hard time finding a job. Alana accepted a position that was not in the medical field in order to help make ends meet. However, Alana did not give up on her goal. She continued to receive job search assistance and was eventually able to gain full-time employment as a Medical Assistant at local doctor's office.
