Meet Lenny

Workforce Challenge

In October 2010, Lenny had to leave his job due to a long-term illness. His employer hired a replacement while Lenny was out on disability. Once he was recovered and ready to look for work, he contacted the Yuba County One Stop for assistance.

Workforce Solution

At the Center, Lenny used the Internet (which he was unable to afford at home) to search for job openings. He created a resume with assistance from the One-Stop staff, who helped him by making copies and faxing his resume to employers with open positions whenever he needed help.

Lenny began taking a class to become a water treatment technician. Not long after, he landed a job that took up too much time to continue the classes. Unfortunately the job ended and Lenny returned to the One Stop for assistance with searching for a new position. "I was always greeted with smiles and great conversations there," shared Lenny.

Lenny got a few job interviews that were out of town, and the One Stop supplied fuel cards to help pay for his travel.

Outcomes & Benefits

Lenny was finally offered a full time position, and the One Stop helped him purchase professional attire needed for his new role. "I cannot begin to put my gratitude into words," said Lenny, "But thanks to the tools I found at One Stop, I have my new career."
