Meet Ana

Workforce Challenge

Ana was a 20-year-old stay-at-home mother of two small children. She was also a high school dropout struggling with self-confidence. In spit of her challenges, Ana knew she wanted to start setting goals.

Workforce Solution

Ana enrolled in a County of San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board youth program. The youth program staff provided the support Ana needed to start identifying and setting personal goals.

Two of Ana’s main goals were to obtain employment and get her high school diploma. She began working toward these goals by participating in pre-employment skills workshops. During these workshops, Ana completed sample job applications, developed her resume, and improved her interview skills. Completing these activities helped her gain confidence by acknowledging skills and abilities she didn't know she had.

Outcomes & Benefits

Ana was assigned to participate in a paid work experience opportunity with the City of Victorville. Ana’s second goal to receive her high school diploma is also in sight. With the assistance County of San Bernardino Workforce Investment Board, Ana has recently turned in her final required credits and will obtain her high school diploma in a few weeks.
