Meet Thomas

Workforce Challenge

Thomas was laid of from a high paying job with an aircraft manufacturer making nearly $33 per hour. At almost 60 years of age, Thomas was not certain he would be able to make that kind of money again, and was in need of updating his skills to compete in the current job market.

Workforce Solution

To overcome this challenge, Thomas visited his local One Stop Career Center and discovered that he would qualify for training assistance. Thomas would not have been able to afford training as he was not unemployed.

Outcomes & Benefits

Even before Thomas finished training he was offered a job based on his already updated skills and certificates in CAD/CAM. Now he is an Electrical Engineer making almost $35 per hour. With the training he has obtained and through the assistance of his Local One Stop, Thomas was able to find work for an even higher wage than his previous employer!
