Meet Felicia

Workforce Challenge

Felicia is a single-parent raising a family of five on a part time LPN salary. She needed tuition assistance so she could become an RN and secure the career and salary needed to eliminate the need for public assistance.

Workforce Solution

Through the Kansas Health Professionals Opportunity Project (KHPOP), Felicia was able to enroll in the RN program at
Hutchinson Community College. She received assistance with her tuition, fees, materials and supplies. In addition, she received assistance with various supportive services to eliminate barriers to training, such as, housing and utility assistance, childcare and transportation expenses.

Outcomes & Benefits

Felicia successfully graduated from the Hutchinson Community College RN program and received her RN credentials.

Felicia was promoted to FT employment at Sandpiper Healthcare and Rehab Center. She is continuing her Nursing Career Pathway at Wichita State University.
