Meet Michael

Workforce Challenge

Michael, a resident of Redondo Beach, lost his home after being laid off from a motorcycle dealership in June 2010. Although he had no formal training other than a high school diploma, Mr. Jones had always worked hard and excelled at his job. He came to the Beach Cities One-Stop hoping to jump-start into a new career, perhaps in a whole new industry.

Workforce Solution

Michael teamed with One-Stop staff, who helped him to research new career paths that matched his skills and interests. As he learned more about the medical field, he was assured that he had finally found his niche. He was especially excited about the potential of training as a Pharmacy Technician.

Outcomes & Benefits

Michael in enrolled in classroom training at the American University of Health Sciences. The combination of classroom training and hands-on experience was just the right prescription he needed to start his new career. He was hired as a full-time Pharmacy Assistant at Kovacs-Frey Pharmacy where he is currently employed. Pharmacist Odette Leonelli is delighted to have a capable new assistant with just the right attitude and Michael is thrilled with this new beginning in the medical field.
