New to the area and a recent high school graduate, Matthew planned on attending our local community college and was looking for a job while he went to school. He had no formal work experience and being new to the area, did not know where to begin looking or how to present himself to employers.

Workforce Solution

The staff at Auburn Connections helped Matthew identify his transferable skills so he could create a resume that highlighted his computer and technology knowledge, customer service skills and dependable work ethic. They also provided insightful direction to Matthew on how to stand out when submitting an online application and also when interviewing. Matthew said, “The staff at Auburn Connections helped me a lot in getting the information I needed to know how to get a job.”

Outcomes & Benefits

A national retailer interviewed Matthew by phone, followed by two in-person interviews. Since Matthew had practiced interviewing with the Auburn Connections staff he felt prepared for his interviews. Although it was initially a seasonal position, the employer was so impressed by this young man that they extended a regular part-time position to Matthew that would accommodate his college schedule.
