Workforce Challenge

Jamie came to the One Stop because she was having difficulty obtaining employment. Jamie lacked qualifications for many employment opportunities. She was only 16 years old, she had no prior work history and she hadn't obtained her diploma yet. Many employers were seeking individuals that had experience, but Jamie was having a difficult time finding a business that would even give her a chance to gain experience.

Workforce Solution

Jamie was enrolled into the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program, where she learned how to identify her transferable skills. Jamie attended workshops that provided work readiness training and job search techniques and tips. Jamie also received a work experience placement with one of our local employers, Papa Murphy's. She excelled at her job and successfully completed her work experience.

Outcomes & Benefits

Papa Murphy's was so pleased with Jamie's positive attitude and work ethic, they offered her a permanent position after her work experience ended. Jamie accepted the offer and remains employed there. She has graduated from high school and plans to attend college.
