Meet Keri

Workforce Challenge

Keri had just finished her LPN classes when she started in the Kansas Health Profession Opportunity Program(KHPOP). She lacked the financial resources to be able to pay for all appropriate tests, background checks, and fingerprinting that goes into getting her LPN License.

Workforce Solution

Through the funding of the KHPOP program, Keri was able to pay for all of the required tests and background checks for the LPN program. Now that she is an LPN, Keri will be able to receive tuition support to continue her training for the RN program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Keri passed the LPN examination with flying colors and was able to gain employment to take care of her and her 6 children, at Sedgwick Healthcare of Newton making $17.50 an hour. She hopes to pursue her goal of becoming an RN once she is accepted at the Pratt Community College RN program.
