Meet Katrina

Workforce Challenge

Katrina, a single mother working part time as an EMT, had a goal to become an RN but lacked the financial resources to return to school.

Workforce Solution

She came to the Workforce Center and applied to the Kansas Health Program Opportunity Project (KHPOP) for financial assistance with her healthcare training. After Katrina was determined eligible, she began training at Pratt Community College in their EMT to RN program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Once Katrina completed her training, passed the state RN exam and received her State of Kansas RN License, job offers were abundant. She is now working part time with the Ambulance Service as a part time RN with ConMed providing healthcare services to inmates incarcerated in local facilities. Katrina is now pursuing a long range goal to work as an RN at the local Veteran's Hospital.
