Meet Louise

Workforce Challenge

Louise was laid off from her position as a Design Drafter, where she made a very good salary. Her drafting skills were out of date, and she needed training on the new digital design programs in order to be marketable and secure a comparable position in the same field. She came to Wichita Workforce Alliance for assistance.

Workforce Solution

Workforce Alliance connected Louise with training funds to help her attend Wichita State University's CATIA (3D Computer Aided Design Software) Training Program. While in training, her husband had to seek employment outside of the state, and at one point Louise considered ending her training so that she could move to be with her husband. However, Louise was able to remain in training and her husband continued to provide her with emotional support.

Outcomes & Benefits

During the last class of her program, Louise was offered employment at Cessna Aircraft as a Design Drafter making a comparable salary to that of her old job. Louise completed her training while going through the new employee training process at Cessna. Louise's husband recently was hired at Cessna as well and was able to move back to Kansas to be with his family. Louise was very thankful for the opportunity WIA provided her.
