Workforce Challenge

Lisa Trivette first came to DavidsonWorks seeking WIA assistance so that she could begin training in the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at Davidson County Community College. Prior to her visit to the center, she had been laid off from two former employers. The first time, she had considered training, but she returned to work because her family needed the income. Now, she realized that she needed a career change and training to move forward and find stable employment.

Workforce Solution

Lisa began the LPN Degree in December 2008 and graduated with High Honors in December 2009. Lisa could be characterized as someone with boundless energy, enthusiasm, and motivation. She expects excellence from herself, always gives 200% and never complains. Her outstanding achievement during her clinical experience resulted in her being awarded the Clinical/Academic Excellence Award at graduation.

Outcomes & Benefits

Lisa is truly a success story and model of a student overcoming challenges through hard work and determination. On May 3, 2010, Lisa began to work at Lex Medical Pediatrics in Lexington, NC. Having the second income will help her family immensely, but Lisa has already enrolled in RN classes so she can continue her education and continue to improve her family’s lifestyle and provide stability for them in the future.
