Workforce Challenge

Holland Company LP, headquartered in Crete, IL, is a pioneer in the railway supply industry. The company supplies freight car components and electric flash butt welding systems and conducts track testing using efficient road rail vehicles. Holland's services are vital to keeping the U.S. railway system running safely. While training needs are widespread, the mechanical engineering staff at the Crete location needed specialty training.

Workforce Solution

The company invested in 3-D modeling software -- SolidWorks Graphics by Graphics Systems Corp.-- to help the company stay competitive. In order to teach existing employees the skills needed to use the software, Graphic Systems Corporation provided training for two Holland engineers through Incumbent Worker funding.

Outcomes & Benefits

“The training our employees received allowed us to utilize new technologies that would not otherwise be available to us. The key to remaining competitive is developing new products and getting them to the market place in a timely manner,” states Stefan Pendrick, Engineering Manager at Holland Company. “The training we received is allowing us to do that.”
