Workforce Challenge

Midwest Warehouse & Distribution System, Inc. is a full-service logistics company which has been in business for over 25 years. The company has two warehouses located in Will County. Midwest Warehouse provides warehousing and distribution, transportation, and paper converting services. As part of a buyout, the company acquired a system asset, the Cadence System. This system provides warehousing and distribution controls and information systems. In order to maximize all system benefits, the staff would need training.

Workforce Solution

As a result of the training provided by Incumbent Worker funding through the Workforce Investment Board of Will County, 30 staff, including customer service representatives, warehouse managers, accounts receivable and accounts payable personnel, and controllers can effectively utilize the system to track receipt, distribution and loss of customer products. At first, staff was apprehensive about the new system. But now, with the knowledge and confidence gained through training, they appreciate the information they can readily access and the ability to respond to customer inquiries quickly.

Outcomes & Benefits

One of the added benefits is the ongoing technical assistance that the trainer has been willing to provide as questions come up. "We believe this system is integral to our ability to provide exceptional service to our customers as we continue to expand,” said Joan Deitemyer, Executive Assistant at Midwest Warehouse.
